Hvort sem þú ert samkynhneigð/ur, tvíkynhneigð/ur , trans, gagnkynhneigður eða bara hinsegin, þá er Q eitthvað sem þú ættir að skoða. Félagið er fyrir alla þá sem láta sig málefni hinsegin fólks varða. Fólk sem er að stíga sín fyrstu skref, er komið út úr skápnum eða langar að vita meira ætti endilega að hafa samband og taka þátt í starfi félagsins. Félaginu er ætlað að vera óþvingaður vettvangur til að hitta og kynnast fólki á sama reki.

Hópurinn eru stúdentar og ungt fólk sem hittist reglulega og spjallar saman um daginn og veginn. Auk þess stendur Q fyrir öðrum uppákomum yfir veturinn til að auka fjölbreytnina, t.d. helgarferðir, bjórkvöld, málstofur og bíósýningar.

Starfsemi félagsins skiptist í þrjár deildir:

1. Félagsdeild
Félagsdeild heldur utan um félagsmenn, samkomur þeirra og eykur samheldni þeirra með reglulegum Q-uppákomum svo sem; helgarferðum, leikhúsferðum, málþingum, kaffihúsakvöldum, böllum og fleira. Án efa er þetta mikilvægasta deild félagsins, því án félagsmanna og samheldni þeirra er ekkert félag.

2. Kynningar- og fræðsludeild
Kynningardeild sér um að auglýsa félagið innan háskólanna, bjóða nýja félagsmenn velkomna og gera félagið áberandi. Kynningardeildin sér um póstlista, heimasíðu, veggspjöld og öll önnur kynningarmál. Innan kynningardeildar er einnig unnið að réttindabaráttu innan og utan háskólanna, auk þess sem fylgst er með og hvatt til rannsókna tengdum hinsegin fólki. Starf Q í Hinsegin dögum og Hinsegin bíódögum í Reykjavík fellur undir þessa deild.

3. Alþjóðadeild
Alþjóðadeild var stofnuð formlega vorið 2003 og hefur tekið þátt í fjölmörgum verkefnum. Alþjóðadeild sér um öll samskipti Q við systurfélög sín á Norðurlöndum sem og önnur alþjóðasamskipti félagsins. Alþjóðadeildin skipuleggur alla alþjóðaatburði hér á landi og sendir fulltrúa fyrir hönd félagsins á atburði erlendis.

Whether or not you're homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, straight or just different, then Q is something you should have a look at. The association is for those who are interested in the matters of queer people. If you are interested we recommend you to participate in Q's work and activities.

The activities of the association are divided into three departments:

1. The Social department

The social department holds the members of Q and organizes meetings and regular events such as weekend trips, trips to the theater, conferences, café nights, parties etc. This is without a doubt the most important department of the association because without the members and their unity there would be no association.

2. The Publicity department

They role of the publicity department is to advertise Q within the Universities, invite new members to the association and to make the association notable. The publicity department supervises the mailing lists, the web page, posters and other publicity matters. The department also holds a stand for students rights within and out of the University. It also monitors and encourages research regarding queer people. 

3. The International department

The international department was formally established in 2003 and has taken part in many projects. The departments holds all of Q's contacts with associates from the nordic countries as well as other international communication. The international department plans all international events in our country and sends representatives on behalf of Q to international events.
