The Student Council appoints representatives for a variety of tasks in need of special attention, and these representatives have a weekly presence at the Student Council's office, where they can be sought for all sorts of issues and questions. They are as follows:
The SHI International Officer is appointed each year to supervise SHI's and the International Office's contact program, a grand and enjoyable project. The job description includes finding foreign exchange students and Icelandic contacts during their stay as well as providing those who stay over Christmas a chance to dine with an Icelandic family.
The international officer is also a link between ESN Reykjavík – the foreign student association at the University – and the Student Council's International Committee. This year we intend to improve the collaboration between these units and boost the level of the contact program. The SHI International Officer for 2008-2009 is Sigrún Björk Friðriksdóttir.
The Foreign Students’ Interest Representative's purpose is to make an individual available to answer questions from foreign students at the University and to safeguard their rights. This is also to have someone to assist foreign students when it comes to practical issues such as applying for the necessary social security number (kennitala). The SHI Foreign Students’ Interest Representative for 2010-2011 is Sif Hauksdóttir Gröndal.
The Student Equality Representative is appointed every year to observe and evaluate the University environment and its strengths and weak points when it comes to equality and equal access. The representative is for 2010-2011 is Tinna Rut B. Isebarn.
